This wraps it up with the final set of photos of World Challenge. It was another inspiring weekend at MMP for me and the fellas from supremacy racing. Just days before the event, Eric and Maurcio drove up from California to help out with Kris's RSX. On race day supremacy was there track-side supporting McCoy Motorsport's RSX.

Kris placed 6th in the GTS class and I wanted to give a big shout out to the guys behind the scene at McCoy Motorsports for getting him there.. Kris, Paul, Jeffery McCoy, Jason, Randy, Crew Chief Eric and Maurcio from California. Another shout out goes out to Cortney Green (C.G.R) & Cody Phillips (Cody Phillips Racing) for helping out with the tune.

They were giving out free hugs.. I think I see Protege in there.

Rhett (Team Maakoa Racing) was driving me around in his kart to get up close photos of these cars. Thanks Rhett!

My final coverage of NASA's Honda Challenge event. It has been a very positive and an amazing experience working with Team Maakoa Racing.. from our late night sessions at the shop ending around three to four in the morning to being at the track with the team. The night before the West Coast Shootout we drove up to Midnight Performance in Sacramento, CA to get Frank's car tuned by Cortney Green. We all stayed up till 3am tuning.. I would like to thank Andre the new owner of Midnight Performance for supplying us with injectors and a fuel gauge.

Between those palm trees back in 2000/2001 my brother and I use to street race there every weekend with some of our friends and other kids from different cities.

After the car show we returned to the shop to get things ready for the evening. I picked up a box of oysters and tried to get a few bottles of Patron, but all the liquor stores was closed... I should've known. For some of our readers from out of state and country the locals here in Utah celebrate Pioneer Day on the 24th of July. It's like having another July 4th. As always we had good company on deck along with family members.. I'm sure everyone had a good time.

Sunset City had their annual Sunset Days along with a car show they put together by Mr. Jamison I believe. Right behind the shop was where the event was happening. The turnout was good with an average of 100 cars.

Kas, my six year old niece had a booth there and was selling flower everything! Ranging from head bands to pins.. she's trying to raise enough money to purchase a bed that looks like a tree house.

Before the car show we walked around the food vendors searching for a meal that will hit the spot. I had the Southern BBQ with Fast Frank and washed it down with a drink from Jamba Juice. Doug and Clint had Mexican food next to the BBQ pit.

When I was in high school as a sophomore I had a maroon 1968 Cougar aka Freddy Cougar. Every weekend I would hit up McHenry Ave (Cruising Strip) in Modesto, CA and when my friends couldn't find me around the neighborhood they already knew where I was at.. Some of my friends ended up calling me McHenry Kelly for few summers.. Remember this was before everyone had cell phones and I didn't own a beeper. This car brought many great memories when I seen it and I'm hoping one day to build another one.

Adam, Congrats on taking 1st place. This had to of been the best weather at Miller Motorsports Park thus far! I didn't even get sun burned and as always, we had a good time. I came home once again inspired by the atmosphere there. Later that evening we hit up Clinton Days for the "fireworks". It was one of the best firework show I've seen all year. They had bands playing butt rock covers, mullets, air guitars and the whole nine yards. We would just have to wait until this Saturday to see what Sunset Days have up their sleeves..

BILLY'S MEMORIAL CRUISE 6.22.10

Last Saturday we all went on a cruise for Billy. It started off with meeting up at Layton Hills Mall and ended up at Ogden Canyon. Billy started the cruise/meet on his own and I believe this was the biggest turnout so far. I rolled out there with my friend/personal trainer Tony Flexx in his red IS300. It was a very memorable event and with over 100 cars.

William Harrison "Billy" Payne III
(November 11, 1980 - June 22, 2010)

LAYTON – William Harrison Payne III “Billy” passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2010. He was born November 11, 1980 to William Harrison Payne Jr. and Lalana Sue Rinehart in Layton, UT.

Billy enjoyed restoration of cars, camping and outdoor recreation. He was employed by Bubba’s Trailers where he was much loved. He loved shooting and going to Wendover with his family.

Surviving are his longtime companion Bee Moua, daughters, Kailee Payne, Khloe Payne, step-sons, Bryce and Arthur Thow, father William H. Payne Jr. (Teresa), Farr West; mother LaLana S. Rinehart, (Fernando) Layton; his only sister Melanie Payne (Silvano Amador), Layton; two step-brothers, Mike Hall (Amanda), Syracuse; Lee Ogg (Shawtee), Logan; grandparents, H.T. and Shizue Rinehart, Layton; William H. Payne Sr., Elk Bend, ID; Robert & Roberta Crites, Dodge, Nebraska, nieces Sivanna Payne and Atianna Amador, nephew Jay-Den Payne, many aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends.

Preceded in death by uncles Robert Crites Jr., James E. Payne, cousin, Brandi K. Rinehart.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

RIP BILLY "BUD LIGHT" PAYNE.

This week has felt like a bad dream. It started out with my bed getting kicked in the early a.m by Frank, he told me the news about our friend Billy being in the hospital from Clint, and moments later said he passed away. I was shocked and in denial the whole day, thinking he was gonna come by the shop, have a beer, and share some laughs.. 5:30pm came around, then it hit me really hard. My head is still messed up at the moment by his passing and all I keep remembering was the night before hanging out at the shop till 1 in the morning and giving him that last peace sign before he entered Interstate 15.

That night Billy, Clint, Jessica, Christian, Ryan, Frank, Bruce, Bryan, and I had a blast and we were looking forward to episode 2 the following day. There was so much that happened that day/night, but this is what sticks out at the moment. Clint and Billy raced each other on foot up the shop's driveway and Billy lost to Clint. Next, Frank, Ryan, and Bryan raced. Bryan took 1st, Frank came in 2nd and Ryan got shit for placing 3rd. LOL!!! We also had a very deep conversation about the scene in Utah, his kids, how much he loved them and his boys, where the shop is heading in the next few years, his car and so on for hours..

Billy would go out his way to help out a friend and not have any hidden gratitude that comes with it. Billy was an extordinary man, father, son, husband, brother, and friend. He represented supremacy racing to the fullest! Billy was a hardworker, a great welder, he always had a smile on his face and had a ''one-off'' laugh lol. ''One-off'' was Billy's word, he would use it when describing something that is custom/one of a kind..

My heart is broken by our loss and I'm sure everyone else feels the same way. I feel blessed having you as friend, who later became a brother to all of us. I will never forget how much you helped me out on my personal project because we spent many days/nights at the shop working. I will get you that "one-off" supremacy sticker on your windshield. Thank you for being a part of our lives. We (and I'm speaking on the behalf of the supremacy racing family) miss you and you'll defiantly be remembered. We also want to send our condolences to your family.

This is a FREE event.

Requirements:

• Yourself - friends welcome.

• Camera - SLR or Point-&-Shoot the more functionality the better.

• Open Mind: Must have an open mind and willing to take constructive criticism.

Recommendations:

• Tripod

• Circular Polarizing Filter (CPL)

Pre-Class Assignment:

Please print out what you consider your best automotive photograph and bring it to the workshop. If you do not have a printer,

please go to Wal-Mart and have a print made. DO NOT make the print smaller than 4x6, however the larger the better

Last Friday was the first Midnight Drags and our first test n' tune for the drag car. Fast Frank made a 11.2 pass at 129 mph, another personal best for him in Utah. Midnights was cold and the turn out was okay, hopefully the next one will be warmer and have more faster cars out. By the way we'll be at the next Midnight Drags with our t-shirts for sale.. make sure to hit us up at our pit.

My brother and I met Kim from GirlinTheBlackCar.com in person for the first time. We've met through twitter a few years back. Kim blasted a 10.9 @ 130mph in her Eclipse with a simple build she did with her husband Adam. Follow her on Twitter and make sure to check her blog.

I caught the crowd stand up as fast frank made his 11.2 pass.

Fast Mike equipped with an LS turbo ran 13's.

Supra made a 12 sec. pass and drove home right after the event.

Engine build part 1.

We first met Ryan six years ago at a skate park in Roy, Utah during our BMX riding days.. This kid was tearing it up in his BMX and asked a bunch of questions about everything. Fast Frank later took him for a ride in Tony Flex's eg with semi built b-series, and it forever changed his mind about Hondas. It was crazy when he mentioned it to us about it last week because we totally forgot. He remembered every little details, even the part about once he get his first honda he's gonna bring it by shop to get it worked on. Today at 20 years old he's playing with the big dogs and getting his K20 built. I love how we can inspire someone six years ago and be able to work with him in the studio. Not bad for pizza boy right? You can do it too.. start setting your goals right NOW!

Last Sunday UtahHondas.net threw a meet at Barnes park in Kaysville, UT. The meet was a success! Jeff from UtahHondas.net said there were over 150 cars there, and some was even parked across the street at the church.
